Special Olympics Coaches for Forsyth County

To coach a Special Olympic Athlete, one must be certified by Special Olympics Georgia. Special Olympics Forsyth County has made it a goal to offer 2 training clinics per month until we have established a solid network of coaches available for our athletes and have increased the number of sporting events our athletes can participate in. Athletes who are trained by certified coaches, have the option of competing in state games as well.

Coaches are required to fulfill 10 contact hours with an athlete.  Given that an athlete must have at least 8 contact hours with his/her coach before competing a state competition, the 10 contact hours are rather easy to meet.  Coaches must also complete a registration packet where Special Olympics Georgia will conduct a background check prior to the interaction of a coach and athlete.

Coaches will be given a list of athletes that have expressed interest in a certain area and will determine time/location of the practice sessions.

For information or to sign up for a training clinic, please contact Mark Keesee at (770) 844-0846 or mark.keesee@comcast.net.
